The Sri Lanka Money Brokers Association (SLMBA) is the self-governing body of Money & Foreign Exchange brokers in Sri Lanka. The association was formed in 1995 by the seven money brokering firms. The initial members of the Association were Bartleet, Mecklai & Roy Ltd., the pioneers of this industry in Sri Lanka, Keels T & R Ltd., Pigott Chapman & Company, George Steuart & Company Ltd., Mercantile Financial Brokers Ltd., MB Financial Services Ltd., and Vanik Incorporation Ltd. The current membership of the association is of nine money brokering firms.
The primary objectives of SLMBA are to safeguard the interests of all money brokers and the industry. The association periodically reviews brokerage charges through its membership and follows a uniform brokerage structure. SLMBA, through its code of conduct and ethics, constantly monitors the activities and interests of all member firms. SLMBA, affiliated with the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka, has conducted a Certificate Course in Money Broking since 2010.
Through its social calendar, SLMBA conducts events to maintain cordial relationships among all brokers. The notable events of the recent past are the SLMBA Motor Rally and workshop programmes conducted for its members.
